The San Diego was originally manufactured during the 1970’s at our skateboard factory in Irún as the most versatile model in each collection. It was released in many different sizes and shapes, such as the 72 cm, made of solid wood with a subtle kicktail. The development of the laminated wood technology enabled the manufacturing of a more modern version: A 68 cm laminated wood deck, with flat concave and a more pronounced kicktail than the previous model. Using this last model as a template, we have created a versatile and user-friendly cruiser. Great to commute or to try some new tricks, this 28.5” board (72 cm, same lenght as the solid wood original) is lightweight, responsive and stable. The board is set up with what we’ve called ‘biconical’ wheels, a geometry that’s similar to those used in the old days: These wheels are amost symmetrical, the inner side is not flat, and therefore softer.
